What to Wear to Your Fall Photoshoot

It’s the season of vibrant leaves, crisp air, and cozy layers, making it the perfect time for a fall family photoshoot. With the trees glowing in shades of red, orange, and gold, and the rain not yet a constant companion, it's the ideal backdrop for capturing those precious memories with your loved ones. Whether you’re planning outdoor fall photos in a scenic park or a rustic, cozy shoot at home, one of the most challenging parts can be choosing the right outfits for you and your family.

So, what should you wear to your photoshoot this fall? In this blog, I’ll give you some tips to help you select the perfect outfits for your session, making sure you look great and feel comfortable in the autumn air.

Colors

Think cozy. You want your outfits to be warm and reflect the earthy tones of the session. It is okay to add some color to your fall photo session! Stick with fall tones like burgundy, mustard, rust, burnt orange, olive green, navy, or cream. You can never go grown with a neutral color like tan, beige, and gray too. When selecting colors for your family, choose colors that compliment each other rather than match perfectly.

Layers

Opt for cozy sweaters, chunky cardigans, denim, or leather jackets. The weather in the fall can be unpredictable so make sure your jacket could be easily removed if it ends up being warm during your session.

Accessories

A beanie or felt hat can add the perfect fall touch. Add some ankle or knee high boots to complete your look! Shoes matter, so make sure your footwear is clean and matches your outfit.

Textures

Play with different textures to add richness to your photos. Think soft knits, corduroy, wool, denim, and flannel. These materials not only feel cozy but photograph beautifully, especially in the light of fall.
